Maternity Reflexology
Having completed post-graduate reflexology training and gained a Certificate of Competency in Maternity Reflexology Sally is able to offer a wide range of Maternity Reflexology treatments. These range from pre-conceptual care and advice, through to pregnancy, birth and after care of both mother and new baby. Reflexology treatment during pregnancy will put you in the best possible condition for whatever type of birthing you experience.
Preconceptual Care
As with other treatments, Reflexology can offer no guarantees, however it has a well deserved reputation for being very useful in this area. Maternity Reflexology, through working the reflex areas on the feet and hands, utilises a number of specific techniques to address the often complex factors related to fertility and conception. As you would expect lfiestyle and dietary factors are also considered in detail along with Maternity Reflexology.
The balancing, calming and supportive benefits offered by Maternity Reflexology can help with fertility issues, even when they are unexplained. Reflexology has a strong track record of helping couples to conceive, a wonderful gift for reflexologists to be able to work with.
Pregnancy Reflexology
Reflexology has established it reputation and popularity by the effective results people experience. Trials have found that those receiving regular treatments during pregnancy tend to deliver closer to term and have shorter labours.
Reflexology during pregnancy combines specific techniques to fully support both yourself and your unborn child through pregnancy. It can help to relieve many of the common 'discomforts' of pregnancy such as;
- Aches and pains (both specific and general)
- Constipation
- Emotional imbalances
- Morning Sickness & Nausea
- Fluid retention
- Fatigue
As well as providing relief from more acute symptoms such as;
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
-Raised blood pressure
- Sciatica / severe back pain
- Symphisis pubis disorder
Maternity Reflexology can also be used to turn breech babies and prime labour if your baby is not so convinced about their expected arrival date! Maternity Reflexology also offers specialised techniques to balance hormones which understandbly can be all over the place during pregnancy.
With the increasing pressures of today's society, many expectant mothers have to work close up to their expected due dates and risk going into labour already exhausted. The restorative effects of reflexology can be immensely valuable, coupled with Maternity Reflexology, it can also help to prime your body for birthing.
Postnatal Reflexology
Once baby arrives, they still seem to be the center of attention - however it is important to remember to take time for yourself. Continuing your Reflexology treatments once your baby has arrive can help in the following ways:
- Balancing, harmonising and restorative at this demanding time
- Reduces anxiety and helps you establish a "calm inner centre"
- Reduces tension, aches and stiffnesses
- It helps restore the body to a non pregnant state
- Increases vitality and aids restful sleep
Postnatal Reflexology treatments are also a wonderful time to recuperate from birthing. They are also a great time to relax with your baby (who of course continues to be welcome in my treatment room) and understand some simple reflexology techniques which will benefit their health, whilst giving you a wonderful opportunity to continue to bond with him or her.
